- Description:
- ● A Pipe Elbow is a 90 degree fitting with female threads on the both ends.
- ● Its a short piece of pipe with a 90 degree bend and has internal threads either end.
- Used for:
- ● A Pipe Elbow, also called a Elbow 90, is used to add a 90 degree angle to a piping system.
- ● Used to connect two male threads at a right angle.
- ● Most commonly used to connect two pipes at right angles.
- Advantage:
- ● The advantage of a 90 elbow fitting when adding a bend to a piping system is that they make a gentle bend as opposed to a sharp corner.
- ● This gentle bend reduces friction as well as pressure drop.
- To Install:
- ● Thread the female threads onto a male thread of the same size.
- Sizing:
- ● A 90 elbow fitting is sized according to the size of the thread it will connect to.
- ● For Example: a 1/2" 90 degree elbow will thread onto a 1/2" male thread.
- Also Called:
- ● 90 Degree Elbow Fitting.
- ● Plumbing Elbow.
- ● NPT Elbow.
- ● 90 Ell
- More Options:
- ● Another option is a Street Elbow which is also a threaded elbow fittng but it has male threads on one end and female threads on the other..
- ● Another option are 45° Elbows which have a 45 degree angle between the threaded ends.

- Material of Construction:
- ● These threaded elbows are constructed out of Stainless Steel 304 & 316.
More Information:
A 90 Degree Elbow is a threaded pipe fitting used in plumbing and piping to connect male threaded pipes and fittings together at a 90 degree angle. Threaded Elbows provide a smooth transition between the pipes they are connecting. This smoother "corner" leads to less turbulence and results in reduction of friction and a reduction in the pressure drop. It differs from a street elbow in the gender of its threads. A street elbow has a male threads on one end and female threads on the other, while a regular elbow has female threads on both ends. This feature of having the same threads on either end makes them ideal to connect pipes or male threaded fittings together. There is no more a convenient way to connect two pipes at right angles than to use a threaded elbow. Another benefit of having female threads is they add a 90 degree bend to a pipe or male threaded fitting while changing the gender of the thread to female. For example putting an elbow on a regular male threaded pipe, puts a right angle at the end of that pipe and changes the thread to female. The internal female threads of this 90 elbow will thread onto male threads of the same size. These NPT elbows for plumbing have National Pipe Threads (NPT threads), which are tapered threads and form a secure and water-proof connection when installed properly. This makes stainless steel elbow fittings ideal for a wide range of industrial applications including in plumbing, HVAC and manufacture, wherever a male threaded parts need to be connected at 90 degree right angles. These elbow connectors are manufactured out of stainless steel 304 and 316, which makes them durable, rust and corrosion resistant.
